PRIVATE PRACTICE MENTORING

Build a private practice that is ethical, sustainable and uniquely yours:

Qualifying as a counsellor or psychotherapist is a major achievement. But building a private practice is a new and different challenge.

As a qualified therapist you have been trained to work deeply and ethically with clients, but not necessarily how to find them, set fees, build a website, manage enquiries and bookings, handle marketing, insurance, billing and finance functions.

Build confidence as a self-employed practitioner:

Private Practice Mentoring offers practical, supportive business coaching for newly qualified and early-career therapists who want to build a sustainable practice that is rooted in personal and professional values.

Who this is for?

Private Practice Mentoring is for you if you are:

  • Newly qualified or approaching qualification

  • Starting or refreshing a private practice

  • Unsure how to attract your first clients

  • Struggling with pricing, visibility or confidence

  • Wanting practical guidance rather than general encouragement

You do not need to have everything worked out. That is what the mentoring is for.

What is on offer?

Mentoring begins with a needs assessment, so the service can be tailored. The process can help:

  • Get clarity on the kind of practice you want to build

  • Develop your niche and positioning

  • Identify your client groups

  • Set fees with confidence

  • Set up, write or improve your website

  • Create effective marketing and directory profiles

  • Understand Google Ads, SEO and online visibility

  • Handle enquiries and first contact with clients

  • Manage imposter feelings and business anxiety

  • Set up business functions such as banking, accounting, insurance, and booking systems

  • Create a realistic action plan

The mentoring is focused on being practical and personal.

Why work with me?

I am a counsellor, psychotherapist and clinical supervisor with experience building my own private practice in London and online. I have also worked as a Personal & Professional Development tutor on a counselling diploma course.

Before training as a therapist, I worked as a business owner and strategy consultant for many years. You can view my professional profile on LinkedIn. As a result, I understand both sides of private practice: the values that matter, and the practical foundations that help a business survive and thrive.

My approach is about helping you set up a solid foundation for your practice so that you can effectively serve your clients, while also taking care of your own business needs.

How it works:

1. Assessment & Action Plan

An initial, extended workshop exploring your current status, resources, needs and aims, as well as any challenges you may be facing. We will develop a practical action plan covering key issues and next steps.

2. Ongoing Mentoring

After the initial consultation, you can continue with individual mentoring sessions or a structured six-session package covering issues such as:

  1. Vision, values, goals, and set-up timeframe

  2. Positioning, fee-setting, and client group focus; Online / location requirements

  3. Marketing, including website, directories, social media, and advertising

  4. Contracting, enquiry management, bookings, billings, and first contact

  5. Sustainable practice planning, including banking, accounting, regulatory, and insurance issues

Introductory pilot offer:

As this is a new service, I am currently offering a limited number of introductory places for therapists who would like to help shape the programme.
